#14 Utah Football Defense Stifles Florida in 24-11 Win

Defense was the name of the game tonight as the No. 14 University of Utah Football team beat the Florida Gators 24-11 in front of a stadium

Utah's defense limited the Gators to 13 yards rushing, 1-of-13 third-down conversions, and 2-of-5 fourth-down conversions.

The Utes scored 270 yards against Florida, 165 passing and 105 rushing, with no turnovers. They averaged 5.1 yards per play and 11.0 per completion.

The Utes are 30-4 in non-conference regular season games since entering the Pac-12 and 13-1 in Kyle Whittingham era openers.

Bryson Barnes and Nate Johnson split quarterback duties, with Barnes completing 12-of-18 for 159 yards and a touchdown and adding three 

rushes for 11 yards and a five-yard touchdown. Johnson scored with six carries, 45 rushing yards, and 3-of-4 passing for six yards.

Money Parks led the club in receiving yards with one reception for 70 yards, while running back Micah Bernard had seven touches for 45 yards.

New linebacker Levani Damuni and cornerback JaTravis Broughton each had eight tackles, while safety Cole Bishop led the defense with 11 tackles

In his Utes debut, new kicker Cole Becker scored a 51-yard field goal and went 3-of-3 on PATs.

Both teams started well, with the defense forcing a three-and-out to put Utah on its own 30-yard line with 13:21 left.
