Alaska Airlines Revamps Mileage Plan Loyalty Program Awards Options

Alaska Airlines is revamping its Mileage Plan with new worldwide award redemption options to simplify, value, and enhance availability.

Its award-winning reward program will include clearer, more user-friendly information and increased award availability, making it simpler for travelers to travel the globe with Mileage Plan points.

The program will simplify reward charts for its 24 oneworld Alliance and partner airlines across three regions: the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and Asia-Pacific, starting in March 2024.

The charts will show'starting from' redemption rates dependent on distance traveled. The new distance-based redemption method seeks to be more transparent.

The new reward redemption options will cut the price of 60% of partner nonstop trips in economy class and 64% in business class. For instance, short-haul rewards will start at 4,500 miles each way, down from 7,500. The simplified data should help estimate worldwide flight distances.

Premium economy awards start at 6,000 miles one-way (down from 12,500) and business class awards at 9,000 miles (down from 20,000), making these alternatives more affordable for comfort-seeking customers.

"Mileage Plan has long offered great value on global redemptions with access to some of the most aspirational premium products and destinations," said Alaska Airlines' Brett Catlin, VP of loyalty, alliances, and sales.

"We're excited to provide a more straightforward award proposition while doubling down on the opportunities our guests will have to find amazing values."
