Seneca Food Corporation is urgently recalling Hy-Vee Turkey Gravy jars that may contain beef gravy. The mixed-up jars are being recalled because the beef gravy contains a soy allergy that the turkey gravy does not, thus the labels do not warn customers.
Only a certain lot code of Hy-Vee turkey gravy is recalled, so check your jar's label to see whether you have the mixed-up beef gravy. The recalled 12-ounce Hy-Vee Turkey Gravy has UPC 75450-03608 and lot code A3CG162M A3CG192M.
The FDA website has label and lot code number photographs. By glancing at your jar, you may also spot the incorrect gravy. Dark brown gravy instead of sandy, tan gravy is likely mislabeled beef gravy.
Hy-Vee's Turkey Gravy label lacks a soy allergy warning due to a label mix-up. If eaten, the gravy may induce serious or fatal allergic responses in soy allergy sufferers. Thus, soy-allergic people should avoid the gravy.
If you have the gravy and no soy allergies or sensitivities, it's fine—other than being beef gravy instead of turkey gravy. You won't have any side effects, but you're entitled to a refund—especially if you want to buy the goods you wanted.
