KFC Is Bringing a Rare Pizza-Inspired Item to the U.S.

KFC may become your go-to pizza restaurant next week when it launches a rare pizza-inspired item in the US.

KFC will temporarily serve its "Chizza" fried chicken and pizza mashup in stores nationwide on Feb. 26. KFC style, the meal replaces pizza

dough with two Extra Crispy 100% white flesh fried chicken filets. The filets are topped with tangy marinara, melty mozzarella, and crunchy pepperoni.

The concept is similar to KFC's discontinued Double Down sandwich, which replaces bread with fried chicken.

According to a news release, KFC introduced the Chizza to the Philippines in 2015. It was later sold in Korea, Taiwan, India, Thailand, Germany, Spain, and Mexico

"Fried chicken and pizza collaborated to create something even better – the Chizza," declared KFC U.S. chief marketing officer Nick Chavez.

"The fan-favorite mashup is finally available in the U.S. after making its way around the world – try it while you can!"

The Chizza won't be available nationwide until Feb. 26, but New York City customers can try it early.

In honor of the Chizza's first American appearance, KFC will turn 242 E 14th St. into a unique "Chizzeria."

The pop-up restaurant, advertised as a "KFC-ified, modern take on a classic pizzeria," will serve Chizzas for free with a maximum of one per client. Feb. 23 and 24
